There's thin high cloud around today, but still warm at 7.30 and getting warmer. I am feeling tired and jaded after last night, and need copious quantities of coffee and water. The cuckoo is calling in the early morning air - it is the first time that Vera has heard a cuckoo.
Our first task for today is to replace the pile of stones at the entrance with an Inukshuk, guided by Vera's Canadian heritage. We build a reasonably large structure, which takes some time to get the right combination of stones for a stable base on which to put the arms
Vera then puts a few smaller stones together and we have two Inukshuks. I realise that La Casa Seis Hermanas, house of the six sisters, needs another four sisters
Here they all are: a big teenager, a ten year old, two twins, a toddler and babyThe face of the teenager is interesting, two different faces can be seen:
a light facea dark face with sharp nose and dark hair swept forwardIt can also be seen as an outline of Great Britain. So much to see in one rockMy second job is to help Dave cover the outdoor bed with sail clothIn the evening Lindsay needs to go to the nearby town of Rute to complete some documents to swap her UK driving licence for a Spanish one - another Brexit bonus.
While she does this Vera and I sit in a nearby bar in a local parkVera spots a bird climbing on thermals, high in the sky. It is a golden eagle, the first one I have ever seen in the wildThen it's back to La Casa for our dinner, which has been cooking in the oven while we have been out. It is slow cooked pig's cheek, and is absolutely delicious, one that I will definitely try and recreate at home.
As usual we eat outside in the balmy evening air, it's difficult to believe this is all about to come to an end.
I thought that we had had our late last night yesterday, but it proves impossible to leave the peaceful night scenery and go indoors. We are out until past 1am, Vera and Lindsay singing along to Joni Mitchell. The moon illuminates the clouds scudding across the sky, the clouds stop the warmth of the day from escaping, it's all quite idyllic and magical….
